Meira Gebel is a freelance journalist based in Portland, Oregon who writes about culture, business and technology. On May 27, Meira published an article for Business Insider that looked at how journalism schools were not preparing their students for the challenges facing the industry, specifically freelancing, which Meira argues journalism schools need to build a stronger curriculum around. In addition to her work at Business Insider, Meira’s reporting can be found in Digital Trends, the Willamette Week, USA Today, the Detroit Free Press and other outlets. She’s a graduate of San Francisco State University as well as Columbia Journalism School.
